Job Description
Step into a rewarding role dedicated to the wellbeing of students in a dynamic elementary and middle school environment. This full-time, contract opportunity begins September 4th and continues through June 25th, supporting a diverse student community during school hours from 8:15AM to 3:15PM, Monday through Friday (35 hours per week).
This position requires an experienced, compassionate registered nurse (RN) ready to oversee health services and support the needs of children across multiple school buildings. Your clinical skills and commitment to student safety will ensure a positive educational setting for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the health care needs of elementary and middle school students, responding promptly and professionally to emergencies and routine care
- Oversee all nursing services across designated school buildings, ensuring adherence to health protocols
- Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to provide a safe and supportive environment
- Administer medication, monitor chronic conditions, and document all health-related incidents in compliance with regulations
- Serve as an approachable source of health education and guidance for students and staff
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid NJ School Nursing RN licensure
- Previous school-based RN nursing experience is required
- Comfortable working closely with administration and staff at the district level
- Capability to manage and prioritize the needs of a full school caseload
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Reliable transportation and proximity to the area
- Must be able to complete onboarding requirements: TB screening, physical exam, and fingerprinting for both agency and district
