This travel retail pharmacist opportunity offers a dynamic role within a well-established healthcare system servicing a community grocery store pharmacy environment in Alamogordo, New Mexico. You will work primarily at a Lowe’s Signature Market retail pharmacy, with occasional shifts at a secondary location requiring flexibility and weekend availability. This position is ideal for experienced retail pharmacists who thrive in patient-focused roles and are adept at supervising pharmacy technicians.

Location:

  • Alamogordo, New Mexico (Primary and secondary retail pharmacy locations)

Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Closed on weekends and six major holidays at the primary location
  • Occasional weekend coverage at the secondary location as needed

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active New Mexico pharmacist license, or willingness to obtain before start date
  • Minimum one year of registered pharmacist experience preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Strong patient counseling and medication dispensing skills
  • Experience supervising and directing pharmacy technicians
  • Ability to adapt to covering multiple retail pharmacy locations, including weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders in compliance with protocols
  • Maintain accurate patient medication profiles and perform medication storage inspections
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and verify daily activities for accuracy and compliance
  • Participate in medical emergency response as part of the pharmacy team
  • Train and orient new staff members as necessary
  • Ensure adherence to infection control standards throughout pharmacy operations

Contract Details:

  • Travel assignment with flexibility to relocate
  • Contract length: 13 weeks or longer; shorter durations considered
  • Weekly payment and included travel stipends covering housing, meals, and expenses
  • Direct client relationship with no vendor management system involvement
