Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in academics, daily living, social, and community skills, focusing on practical independence.
- Lead and inspire the classroom team, including paraprofessionals, ensuring positive, structured, and nurturing learning experiences.
- Design, implement, and monitor IEPs and individualized functional goals; guide robust post-secondary transition plans reflecting each student’s aspirations and abilities.
- Foster inclusive communication and collaboration with school teams, families, and community agencies to support student growth and success.
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with all relevant state and federal special education laws.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Possession of an active and valid State Special Education Teaching License.
- Documented experience managing a High School Life Skills or self-contained classroom; resource or general special education management does not meet this requirement.
- Strong knowledge of adaptive and functional curriculum, high school transition planning, and individualized care for diverse learners.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, resilience, and dedication to student-centered instruction and professional teamwork.
