Registered Behavior Technician in Locust Grove, VA
Job Description
Make a significant impact supporting students with special needs as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in a dynamic school setting. This contract position offers three openings for dedicated professionals who excel at providing individualized behavioral and academic support to students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), emotional disabilities, and developmental delays. You’ll work under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), implementing tailored Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) designed to help every learner succeed.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver individualized behavioral and social-skills support to students in 1:1 and small group settings
- Implement academic, behavioral, and social skill-acquisition protocols crafted by the BCBA
- Gather and record accurate, real-time data on student behaviors and progress, utilizing school-approved tracking tools
- Employ crisis prevention and approved restraint techniques to de-escalate challenging behaviors safely
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to create supportive classroom environments and smooth student transitions
What You’ll Need:
- Active, verifiable Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of fingerprint criminal history and Virginia Department of Social Services child abuse registry checks
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and provide physical assistance to students when necessary
- Preferred: At least one year of experience as an RBT in a public school or pediatric environment
