Social Worker in Lapeer, MI

Step into a vital role supporting K-12 students as a dedicated School Social Worker or Counselor specializing in Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS) for general education. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact throughout the 2026-2027 school year, working onsite at a welcoming local school community. With a Monday–Friday schedule totaling 35 hours per week, you’ll collaborate closely with educators, families, and administrative teams to help students reach their fullest potential.

Ideal candidates possess:

• A Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling from an accredited institution
• Active State of Michigan license to practice as a social worker or counselor (LMSW or LPC); candidates with limited licensure (LLMSW/LLPC) will be considered with the expectation of obtaining full licensure
• Previous experience providing social work or counseling services in a public school or similar agency preferred
• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
• Comfort working onsite with K-12 students and a variety of staff and families

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting school staff in identifying and implementing effective data collection methods for student progress
• Consulting with general and special education teachers to design, implement, and refine tiered interventions
• Participating in MTSS meetings, student support meetings, and parent conferences
• Providing individual and group intervention services, case management, and behavioral support
• Offering families resources and strategies to fully participate in their child’s education
• Maintaining detailed logs and documentation for all student encounters and services coordinated
