Job Description
Step into a vital role supporting K-12 students as a dedicated School Social Worker or Counselor specializing in Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS) for general education. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact throughout the 2026-2027 school year, working onsite at a welcoming local school community. With a Monday–Friday schedule totaling 35 hours per week, you’ll collaborate closely with educators, families, and administrative teams to help students reach their fullest potential.
Ideal candidates possess:
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling from an accredited institution
- Active State of Michigan license to practice as a social worker or counselor (LMSW or LPC); candidates with limited licensure (LLMSW/LLPC) will be considered with the expectation of obtaining full licensure
- Previous experience providing social work or counseling services in a public school or similar agency preferred
- Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Comfort working onsite with K-12 students and a variety of staff and families
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting school staff in identifying and implementing effective data collection methods for student progress
- Consulting with general and special education teachers to design, implement, and refine tiered interventions
- Participating in MTSS meetings, student support meetings, and parent conferences
- Providing individual and group intervention services, case management, and behavioral support
- Offering families resources and strategies to fully participate in their child’s education
- Maintaining detailed logs and documentation for all student encounters and services coordinated
