Qualifications & Desired Experience

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven fluency
• Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings, especially with elementary-aged students, preferred
• Current applicable certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Ability to follow school policies and maintain confidentiality
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with educators and staff

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services for a 5th-grade student in a classroom environment and during related school activities
• Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff to support full participation in educational and social contexts
• Clarify lesson content, instructions, and classroom discussions to ensure understanding
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to address student needs and progress
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting sessions in compliance with school and district policies
