Job Description
Become an essential support for high school students with intensive needs in a highly structured educational setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for seasoned paraprofessionals ready to make a significant impact, providing hands-on assistance for learners with autism and severe behavioral challenges. The academic year runs from August 19, 2026, to June 12, 2027, with a mandatory orientation during the first week to ensure you’re thoroughly prepared. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom (PreK–12) specifically supporting children with autism and behavioral needs
- Must meet at least one Pennsylvania paraprofessional qualification: 48+ college credits, an associate degree or higher, or successful completion of state/local assessment or certification (qualification or intent to complete certification within 60 days required)
- References from two supervisors verifying paraprofessional experience
- Ability to commute within a 35-minute radius and reliable transportation
- Full availability for scheduled hours and orientation (no exceptions)
- Comfortable providing intensive safety interventions and hands-on assistance such as toileting, feeding, transfers, and continuous engagement throughout the school day
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with students exhibiting severe needs, offering behavioral support and implementing prescribed safety interventions
- Assist with daily routines, mobility, self-care, and educational activities as guided by teachers and specialists
- Uphold a highly structured, safe, and nurturing environment for all students
- Collaborate with the instructional team to monitor progress and adjust supports as needed
