A well-established 359-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital specializing in pediatric care seeks a dedicated pharmacist to join their skilled team. This institution is one of the largest pediatric medical providers in the U.S. and the only dedicated pediatric medical center in Arkansas, offering a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with advanced resources and cutting-edge technology.

Location: Little Rock, AR
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (8-hour day shifts)
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately compound and dispense prescribed medications in accordance with physician instructions.
  • Consult with medical staff regarding potential drug interactions, patient histories, and optimal medication use.
  • Educate patients on medication usage and respond to medication-related inquiries.
  • Maintain comprehensive pharmacy records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, security, and hospital policies.
  • Verify proper dosing based on pediatric patient specifics including diagnosis, weight, and age.
  • Identify and address drug therapy issues such as allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions.
  • Recommend appropriate drug therapies that balance efficacy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee drug ordering, substitution, inventory control, and coordination with wholesalers and manufacturers.
  • Participate in clinical monitoring, drug utilization reviews, and provide drug information services.
  • Support the education of patients, pharmacy staff, and students.

Qualifications:

  • Active Arkansas pharmacist license.
  • Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience.
  • IV experience or IV certification required.
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred.
