Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist in Suffolk, VA
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An immediate need for a Clinical Inpatient Pharmacist is open at a well-established regional medical center in Virginia. This 13-week contract position offers experienced pharmacists the flexibility to select between evening or overnight shifts, providing a work schedule that accommodates various preferences.
Schedule Options:
- Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- Overnight Shift: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Monday–Thursday), 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Friday–Sunday), working 7 nights on followed by 7 nights off
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately verify and process medication orders within inpatient settings
- Manage clinical aspects of IV therapy, including pain-controlled analgesia and antibiotic treatments
- Monitor and identify potential drug interactions ensuring patient safety
- Utilize expertise in chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic, and renal dosing preferred for enhanced patient care
- Document precisely and efficiently using EPIC electronic medical records system
Qualifications:
- Must hold an active Virginia pharmacist license at time of application submission
- Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience necessary; previous travel pharmacist experience considered a plus
- Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with IV preparations, controlled pain management, antibiotics, and medication order verification
- Familiarity with EPIC charting required to ensure seamless electronic documentation and coordination with healthcare teams
