Job Description
A rewarding contract opportunity is now available for experienced registered nurses (RN) or licensed practical nurses (LPN) to provide dedicated 1:1 care for students at various elementary and special education sites. Based on student needs and your experience, your assignment will be at a single school within the greater St. Louis area for a minimum one-month term, with potential to extend through the semester or full school year.
You'll be supporting students with complex medical needs, such as seizure disorders, G-tube management, and personal care, ensuring a safe environment and meaningful school participation. Assignments include working with students from ages 5 to 13, with both ambulatory and non-ambulatory students, each requiring individualized nursing support and collaboration with school teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current, active MO RN or LPN license
- CPR/BLS certification
- Experience in pediatric settings, especially with medication administration, seizure management, G-tube care, personal and hygiene assistance, and bus ride supervision
- Familiarity with epilepsy protocols and augmentative communication
- Ability to complete pre-placement requirements: drug screening, fingerprinting, district-mandated online seizure disorder training, and review/sign required policy documents
- Candidates must indicate if previously applied to the district, with relevant outcomes
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care during the school day (Monday through Friday, 37.5 hrs/week)
- Monitor and manage medical needs, including seizure activity, feeding, medication, and emergency care
- Assist with all aspects of personal care as required by student assignment
- Supervise and support students during transportation as needed
