Job Description
Make a lasting impact by supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a contract, full-time position starting August 19. In this engaging role, you’ll work Monday through Friday, expanding educational opportunities for students with a range of visual impairments. Collaborate with dedicated teams to help foster independence and facilitate success both in and out of the classroom.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Credentialed as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience delivering instruction and accommodations to students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Passion for advocacy, inclusion, and student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as needed
- Conduct functional vision assessments and help determine student eligibility for services
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning
- Recommend and facilitate the use of adaptive tools and technology
- Develop and monitor IEP goals, maintaining regular progress documentation
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and community outreach
