Step into an exciting contract opportunity supporting early learners as a Reading Specialist and Library Media professional with full-time hours during the academic year. This role centers on providing essential library and reading interventions for students in Pre K through 2nd grade, fostering a lifelong love of learning and literacy.

You’ll work onsite in a vibrant school environment, collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and young students. Your expertise will contribute to developing engaging literacy programs, supporting curriculum needs, and helping students build foundational reading skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with relevant endorsements
  • Background in curriculum design and instruction highly valued
  • Effective written and oral communication abilities
  • Demonstrated experience addressing the unique literacy needs of early elementary students

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted reading interventions and library media instruction for K-2 classrooms
  • Curate and maintain library resources tailored to young readers
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate literature and information literacy across subjects
  • Track student progress and adjust strategies to promote growth in reading
  • Organize literacy events and programming that excite and motivate students
  • Offer learning support and foster an inclusive, supportive library space
