Make an impact by providing vital educational support to students with visual impairments in a collaborative K-12 environment. A full-time contract opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with an OMS certification. This role is ideal for adaptable travel professionals, as it covers 13 schools across the district with a home base at the district’s main office. The schedule offers flexibility, with the district working closely with you to establish a commute and weekly assignments that fit your needs. Candidates with a background in testing and screening are especially encouraged to apply.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Florida certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- OMS (Orientation and Mobility Specialist) certification required
- Experience working in schools preferred, but not mandatory
- Demonstrated background in student testing and assessments
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites
- Strong communication, organization, and consultative skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instruction and consultative services to students in grades K-12, with a caseload of 15–20 students
- Perform screenings and assessments for visually impaired students
- Travel to 2–3 assigned school sites daily; a total of 13 sites in the district, with home base at the district office
- Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student success
- Document services, complete required forms and reports, and follow district procedures
- Participate in district onboarding and adhere to compliance requirements
