Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a contract role near Merkel, TX! We are seeking two dedicated professionals to serve as full-time DHH Interpreters, working Monday through Friday within a supportive school environment. This position allows you to utilize your interpreting expertise while making an impact on the educational journey of PreK and elementary students.
Your work will be essential in fostering an inclusive classroom experience, bridging communication, and advocating for accessibility. The assignment begins August 19th, providing a meaningful way to kick off the upcoming school year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification or relevant experience as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and educational interpreting for children
- Previous experience collaborating with young learners in PreK or elementary settings
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting diverse learning needs
- Ability to follow Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and work closely with educational teams and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality interpreting services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Support classroom instruction, facilitating clear communication between students and staff
- Assist teachers by adapting materials and communication methods to meet individual needs
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes student engagement and confidence
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and parents to support student progress
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards
