Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) | Aransas Pass, Texas

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
• AVCREP certification or equivalent (required)
• Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings strongly preferred
• Must complete Texas fingerprinting requirements promptly if not already cleared
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to fostering student independence and goal achievement

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized orientation and mobility instruction to students, with exact caseloads and age groups to be confirmed
• Conduct assessments and develop personalized instructional plans
• Collaborate with educators, families, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive student support
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed to maximize outcomes
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with district and state guidelines
• Travel between assigned schools within the district (assignments TBD)
