Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in an engaging educational environment near Trussville, AL. In this contract position, you will play an essential role in fostering student achievement and inclusion while collaborating with dedicated professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate required
- Willingness to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements within designated timeframes, if not already met
- Necessary licensure to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students within Alabama
- Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum as needed to address diverse learning needs
- Work closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Utilize a variety of communication methods and assistive technologies to facilitate learning and inclusion in academic and social activities
- Provide direct instruction, consultation, and advocacy for students in both self-contained and mainstream settings
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and confidence
- Participate actively in the assessment and progress monitoring of assigned students, maintaining accurate documentation
- Collaborate with district staff—including a current hearing impaired teacher placed by our agency—throughout the screening and placement process
