Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate required
• Willingness to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements within designated timeframes, if not already met
• Necessary licensure to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students within Alabama
• Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum as needed to address diverse learning needs
• Work closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Utilize a variety of communication methods and assistive technologies to facilitate learning and inclusion in academic and social activities
• Provide direct instruction, consultation, and advocacy for students in both self-contained and mainstream settings
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and confidence
• Participate actively in the assessment and progress monitoring of assigned students, maintaining accurate documentation
• Collaborate with district staff—including a current hearing impaired teacher placed by our agency—throughout the screening and placement process
