Job Description
Make a lasting impact on the lives of students by working in a full-time, self-contained special education classroom from August 2023 through May 2027. This rewarding contract opportunity is ideal for passionate educators experienced in structured intensive support, particularly for students with autism, emotional disabilities, or prosocial/self-regulatory skill development needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Arizona Secondary Teaching License and current K-12 Special Education Certification
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Experience in self-contained behavior classrooms and supporting diverse learning needs
- Background in working with students facing emotional/behavioral challenges and other areas of eligibility
- Awareness of cultural, linguistic, and at-risk factors impacting student success
- Familiarity with developing special education documentation and delivering services in accordance with federal, state, and district standards
- E.E.E.I. training or willingness to participate in staff development opportunities
- Prior work with structured intensive support for students with autism strongly preferred
- Commitment to providing an inclusive, positive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Teach and support students in a self-contained setting with behavior/emotional and autism-related needs
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans
- Foster prosocial, self-regulation, and academic skills through evidence-based practices
- Maintain accurate progress records, comply with documentation and reporting requirements
- Engage in staff development and adhere to current special education standards and procedures
