Special Education Teacher in Dalton, GA

Two enthusiastic Special Education Teachers are needed for contract positions, serving middle school grades in a supportive, collaborative setting for the upcoming school years.

You’ll co-teach both academic and life skills with an emphasis on building confidence and fostering independence among students with diverse learning needs. Robust training and pre-planning ensure you’re well-equipped for a successful start.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current, active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement required
• Experience with co-teaching in inclusive classrooms preferred
• Knowledge of SPED eligibilities: Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, EBD
• Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Committed to fostering an affirming environment for students transitioning to new grade levels

Responsibilities:

• Co-teach Math and Science for 6th grade OR ELA and Science for 7th/8th grades
• Support small caseloads of 10-12 students, adapting to shifts with enrollment
• Foster social, behavioral, and academic growth, implementing IEPs and behavior plans as needed
• Collaborate on lesson planning, instructional strategies, and data tracking
• Attend and engage in New SPED Training (starting July 29th) and teacher pre-planning
• Maintain a consistent school-day schedule (7:45am – 3:45pm) throughout the academic year
• No toileting or diapering required
