Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as an Autism Specialist supporting students across a diverse network of schools in Southern Oregon, serving communities throughout the Ashland region up to Eagle Point and Grants Pass. This contract position is perfect for educators and specialists with advanced training and a passion for supporting children on the Autism spectrum. You’ll work with K-12 students, providing expertise that helps shape positive learning environments and individualized support strategies.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or School Psychology and current TSPC licensure (or Board Certification for SLPs)
- OR Licensure and Certification required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working with students on the Autism spectrum at various grade and ability levels
- Background in both general education and self-contained settings—from high-functioning students to those with significant communication needs
- Skilled in conducting Autism evaluations and measuring impact
- BCBAs with specialized Autism training and at least 3 years’ experience with students on the spectrum are also encouraged to apply, especially if familiar with public education and Special Education procedures
Primary Responsibilities:
- Consult with schools and educational teams to provide direct support, evaluation, and resources for students diagnosed with Autism
- Complete comprehensive Autism assessments and help design targeted interventions
- Assist in professional development for teachers, providing training on best practices and effective behavioral strategies
- Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to support student success across a continuum of educational settings
- Travel within a 35-mile radius of Medford, providing onsite services to multiple locations
