Behavior Specialist in School Setting | Elk River, Minnesota
Job Description
Step into a dynamic and rewarding role supporting students across both high school and elementary settings in the Anoka area. This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated Special Education professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is enthusiastic about providing meaningful behavioral and academic support.
In this position, your day will be split between two vital areas: spending the mornings teaching high school students and the afternoons working as a Behavior Intervention Specialist in an elementary school. As a BIS, you’ll collaborate with classroom teachers, developing and consulting on behavior plans rather than carrying an independent caseload, allowing you to focus on impactful interventions and teacher support. This full-time contract runs from late August 2026 through early June 2027, with standard school hours and no weekend commitments.
Qualifications Required:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching license—Tier 3 or Tier 4 required for Special Education
- Proven experience in special education and/or as a Behavior Specialist within school settings
- Ability to build rapport with both students and staff, working collaboratively to develop positive behavioral interventions
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Current resume showcasing relevant experience and credentials
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach high school special education classes in the mornings, fostering a positive environment for all learners
- Serve in the afternoons as a BIS, supporting elementary staff with the development, implementation, and consultation of student behavior plans
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote student success and positive behavioral outcomes
- Adapt approaches to meet the unique needs of students throughout the day
Your expertise will make a difference in both classroom environments, benefiting staff and students alike. If you meet the licensure requirements and are ready to make an impact in a supportive school community, submit your current resume and credentials to begin the application process. Shape positive outcomes for students and colleagues—apply today!
Compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 to $43.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
