Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Redwood City, CA
Job Description
Empower students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community by providing specialized instruction on a contract basis for the upcoming school year. This onsite position serves a dedicated student population, partnering with committed education professionals from August to early June.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess an Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Deaf & Hard of Hearing, or a valid California Special Education Credential authorizing teaching for DHH students
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Committed to working onsite; remote and hybrid options are not available
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning goals
- Deliver engaging instruction using a variety of strategies and modalities to maximize student learning and participation
- Monitor and document student progress, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to adjust plans as needed
- Provide ongoing support and consultation to classroom teachers and support staff regarding best practices for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Encourage a supportive, accessible learning environment that promotes academic and personal growth for every student
Assignment Details:
- Contract dates: August 13 through June 11
- Full-time schedule: 37.5 hours per week
- Onsite position in a school setting
