Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a vibrant educational community near Aurora, IL. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support to students from elementary through middle school in an itinerant, part-time capacity. You'll be collaborating onsite with staff and families to empower students with visual impairments, helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed academically and beyond.

Qualifications:

  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs across different grade levels
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and braille is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to a diverse caseload of visually impaired students (elementary through middle school)
  • Travel between school sites (itinerant model) to deliver services and collaborate with educational teams
  • Adapt curriculum, develop customized learning materials, and support use of specialized equipment
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and progress
  • Offer training and guidance to staff and families to foster inclusive learning environments
  • Complete documentation and maintain records in accordance with district and legal requirements
