Teacher of Visually Impaired in Aurora, IL

Enhance educational access and success for students with visual impairments as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic, supportive setting. Work closely with schools, families, and educators to deliver best-in-class vision services throughout the academic year. This contract opportunity involves itinerant travel between multiple campuses, serving students from Pre-K through transition ages, ensuring diverse and meaningful experiences.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
• Master’s degree in an education-related field
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a school-based role
• Expertise in best practices for supporting visually impaired students, mentoring, coaching, and professional development
• Strong ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and advocate for resources within multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness and ability to complete fingerprinting as part of the credentialing process

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct educational support and specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across a range of ages
• Mentor and coach new and returning staff in vision-related services
• Collaborate with the Vision Related Services Department to assist with service delivery, training, and implementation of effective strategies
• Support colleagues with problem-solving, advocacy, and professional resources
• Maintain compliance with all district and credentialing requirements
• Travel between assigned schools within the district as an itinerant specialist

This full-time role (37.5 hours per week, with potential part-time availability) is entirely on-site in a welcoming, resource-rich educational environment. The assignment begins August 27, 2026, and continues through June 9, 2027, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact during the academic year.
