Pharmacist Opportunity – 8-Week Contract in Andover, MN

A temporary pharmacist role is available for a skilled professional with an active Minnesota pharmacy license. This 8-week contract requires flexibility and offers the chance to contribute directly to patient care in a dynamic clinical setting.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Shifts: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM, or 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM
  • Rotating weekend coverage (Saturday & Sunday)

Responsibilities:

  • Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and detect over-usage patterns
  • Ensure medication supply compliance with legal standards
  • Review and confirm prescription appropriateness for patients
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation accurately
  • Provide patient counseling on medication use, side effects, and interactions
  • Consult on prescription and over-the-counter medication management
  • Deliver wellness services including smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
  • Educate patients on correct use of medical devices (e.g., blood pressure monitors, glucose meters)
  • Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following safety protocols
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
  • Manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
  • Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with healthcare team members

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota pharmacist license (required)
  • Experience in retail pharmacy settings preferred; training provided for retail pharmacists new to long-term care
  • Strong communication and patient education skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within healthcare teams
