Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state requirements apply)
- Previous experience teaching or working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication modalities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) specific to students’ needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting curricula as needed to maximize accessibility and understanding
- Create lesson plans tailored to a variety of learning styles and communication preferences
- Conduct regular assessment of student progress and adjust strategies accordingly
- Serve as a resource to school staff and families, providing insights on supporting students’ educational and developmental goals
- Facilitate a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and self-advocacy
- Stay current on best practices and new developments in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
