Step into an engaging contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in a vibrant school environment near Waukegan, IL. This role centers on providing both academic and social/emotional interventions in a resource-based setting, serving K-4 learners through a combination of pull-out instruction and push-in classroom support. You'll be joining a supportive team for the 2026-2027 school year, working full-time Monday through Friday, with a predictable 35-hour workweek and dedicated breaks.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois or eligibility for transfer via ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS)
  • Experience teaching in special education settings at the elementary level
  • Familiarity with resource models, small group instruction, and push-in/pull-out services
  • Strong background providing academic and social/emotional supports
  • Orton Gillingham training or certification (including SLANT, Wilson, Sonday, etc.) highly preferred
  • Ability to work exclusively onsite within a school environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a caseload of 8-12 elementary students with diverse learning needs
  • Deliver targeted direct instruction and accommodate learners through both pull-out and push-in support
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide cohesive, inclusive educational experiences
  • Set, monitor, and report on academic and behavioral goals for students
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment
  • Engage with families, staff, and administrators to advocate for student growth and success
