Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of young learners by bringing your expertise in school-based occupational therapy to an engaging contract role near Elgin, IL. This opportunity allows you to work directly with pre-kindergarten through second grade students, supporting their academic and developmental growth throughout the school year. The assignment runs from August 17th to June 3rd, following a convenient daily schedule from 7:55 AM to 2:55 PM, Monday through Friday—leaving your afternoons and evenings free.
You’ll step into a dynamic, collaborative environment, working alongside teachers, staff, and administration to address students’ unique needs. Your contributions will help students build essential skills for success in school and beyond.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy required
- Current Illinois OT license in good standing
- Prior experience in a school setting is preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Comfortable with early childhood through second grade (EC, K, 1, 2) populations
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- COTAs are not eligible for this position
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and implement therapy services to support academic participation
- Develop and update IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide direct and consultative therapy to students in the assigned age groups
- Collaborate with teachers and families to facilitate generalization of skills
- Maintain detailed student records and progress documentation
- Contribute to a positive school culture by participating in staff meetings or professional development when needed
