Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience working with early childhood/pre-kindergarten students preferred
  • Strong knowledge of various communication modalities, including ASL, Signed English, and/or oral approaches
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized lesson plans
  • Collaborative spirit for working alongside parents, speech-language pathologists, and other educators
  • Enthusiasm for fostering a positive, accessible classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, developmentally-appropriate instruction to PreK students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Assess students’ individual hearing and communication needs, tailoring interventions accordingly
  • Support inclusion by providing consultative guidance to general education staff
  • Cultivate effective partnerships with families to promote student success
  • Track progress and maintain accurate educational records as required
  • Utilize assistive technologies and resources to maximize student participation
