Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity calls for a highly skilled Director of Pharmacy to lead a dynamic inpatient hospital pharmacy team at a specialized critical illness recovery facility. You will serve as a working director and must hold Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) credentials. Situated in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, the role offers direct hire employment within a 35-bed hospital focused on complex patient care including brain injury, cardiac conditions, and ventilator liberation.
Location:
Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania (inside Allegheny Valley Hospital)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Rotating weekend coverage with about 4 hours flex time, compensated with a weekday off
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily pharmacy operations as a hands-on working director
- Manage and mentor a small pharmacy team comprising a full-time pharmacist, a full-time technician, and per diem pharmacists
- Oversee medication management systems, transitioning from current Med Host and paper systems in preparation for EPIC implementation
- Ensure compliance and optimize pharmacy audit scores contributing to annual bonus potential
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams focused on specialized critical care patient populations
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Acute care hospital pharmacy experience (required)
- Pharmacy management or director-level experience (strongly preferred)
- Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated leadership managing small teams with direct reports
- Comfortable balancing administrative, clinical, and operational responsibilities in a leadership role
- Retail-only pharmacy backgrounds will not be considered
