Occupational Therapist School Setting in Providence, RI

Step into a vital role supporting students’ development as a contract-based Occupational Therapist for a nearby school district. In this position, you’ll make a meaningful difference by helping children unlock their potential through personalized interventions and engaging activities. This opportunity spans the Extended School Year (ESY) program running from now until August 6th, and will continue into the fall for several months to provide make-up services. There is a possibility for further extension depending on school needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy services to a caseload of 14 students, targeting both ESY participants and students requiring make-up sessions.
• Assess and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and school specialists.
• Document treatment progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with educational teams and families.
• Participate in IEP meetings and help implement tailored strategies that support students’ learning and independence within the classroom environment.
• Adapt interventions to address sensory, motor, and functional needs, ensuring inclusive participation in school activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Active OT licensure in Rhode Island or eligibility to obtain state licensure prior to start.
• Previous experience in a school-based setting strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to start immediately and commit through Aug 6th, with flexibility for extension in the new school year.
