School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - Mishawaka, Indiana
Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting the communication needs of students across a range of grade levels, from preschool through 8th grade. You'll have the flexibility to choose between serving one dedicated 5th–8th grade building with a caseload of 35, or working with multiple private school settings. Caseloads for virtual roles average 40–45 students, while in-person positions handle approximately 65–70 students. Both full-time and in-person options are available, allowing you to tailor your experience to your strengths and preferences.
This assignment begins August 18 and extends through June 7, providing a meaningful school-year commitment. Although specialized AAC device experience is not necessary—very few students across these placements use them—those with related knowledge will appreciate the straightforward caseloads. While bilingual abilities are not required for the current positions, candidates with such skills may be considered for future adjustments. SLPs are needed, but there may also be opportunities for experienced SLPAs in the in-person roles.
Key Qualifications:
- Current ASHA CCC-SLP certification or eligibility
- Indiana state licensure (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous school-based experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Comfort working independently across multiple sites or grade levels
- Passion for helping students achieve communication success
- Willingness to work full-time (37.5 hours/week) for the duration of the school year
- Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language assessment, intervention, and consultative services
- Manage and monitor a diverse caseload in your assigned setting
- Collaborate with educators and families to support student success
- Maintain thorough documentation and compliance with state and federal regulations
- Participate actively in IEP meetings as required
