Special Education Teacher - Americus, Kansas

Qualifications & Experience:

• Must hold a valid Kansas Special Education teaching license.
• Previous experience teaching in a resource or mild/moderate special education setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and the ability to implement plans effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and classroom management abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and update IEPs tailored to each student’s needs and goals.
• Provide instruction and intervention strategies supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure inclusive learning experiences.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state requirements.
• Engage with parents and caregivers to communicate student progress and support plans.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
