Job Description
Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students with complex needs as a contract Occupational Therapist. Situated near Arlington Heights, IL, this position provides the opportunity to foster students’ growth and independence throughout the full academic year in Vernon Hills. Work a consistent weekday schedule, with mornings starting at 7:30am and afternoons ending at 3:00pm, giving you your evenings free.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Occupational Therapist (OT) license for Illinois
- Previous experience working in a school setting preferred
- Clinical skills supporting high school-aged students with complex needs (grades 9-12)
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to adapt interventions to meet individual student goals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative OT services for a caseload of approximately 18 high school students
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with IEP teams
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to foster student participation in school activities and functional skills
- Support students’ fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and adaptive skills for greater independence within the educational environment
This role offers a competitive rate starting at $43 per hour, with increases commensurate with experience.
