This contract position is located onsite near Fremont, CA, with an academic year schedule running from August 13th to June 11th. In this vital role, you’ll foster accessibility and inclusion, developing individualized strategies to help visually impaired students thrive in school.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments,
    or California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Strong understanding of best practices in teaching students with visual impairments
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to working onsite (no virtual or hybrid options)

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and adaptive curricula tailored for students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with educational teams, parents, and support staff to design and implement effective IEPs
  • Provide consultative support to classroom teachers regarding accommodations and inclusive techniques
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to support individual learning goals
  • Utilize assistive technology and materials, ensuring accessibility within the school environment
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
