Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

\n

This position provides clinical nursing support to Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee by communicating clinical information to patients and businesses, scheduling tests and consultations, obtaining clinical specimens, assessing patients, performing clinical office procedures and maintaining adequate clinical supplies.

\n

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

\n Formal Education / Training:\n
\n
\n High school diploma\n
\n
\n Medical Assistant Certificate required within 90 days of employment or current LPN license required\n
\n
\n Workplace Experience:\n
\n
\n One year previous experience in medical office environment preferred.\n
\n

Equipment and Skills Training:
\n Must be competent in the use Glucometer, BP cuff, thermometer, computer, stethoscope, audioscope, business phone and various oral and injectible medications.

\n

Physical Environment:
\n Office environment.

\n

Physical Effort:
\n Must be able to sit, stand, communicate, in English, both orally and in writing and lift over 20 pounds.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Accurately records patient’s medical history and vital signs.
  2. \n
  3. Gives patients immunizations and injections as appropriate.
  4. \n
  5. Counsel’s patients on health related issues.
  6. \n
  7. Orders and maintains clinical supplies and pharmaceuticals
  8. \n
  9. Coordinates referrals to other medical services
  10. \n
  11. Secures consultations and specialists.
  12. \n
  13. Triages phone calls and addresses patient portal messages
  14. \n
  15. Obtains prior authorization for medications and diagnostic testing
  16. \n
  17. Assists physician with med/surg procedures
  18. \n
  19. Observes universal precautions
  20. \n
  21. Maintains quality assurance for office lab
  22. \n
  23. Observes proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
  24. \n
  25. Coordinates with pharmacies to insure patients have adequate supplies of medicine
  26. \n
