Make a direct impact on students’ learning by supporting individuals with visual impairments in an educational setting. This part-time, itinerant role involves working across elementary and middle school levels, ensuring access to high-quality instruction and accommodations. You’ll collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams in a supportive onsite environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement is required
  • Prior experience working as a TVI or supporting visually impaired students is highly desirable
  • Understanding of adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and accessible curriculum materials
  • Confident in providing consultation and direct support to both students and classroom staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel between school sites within the district

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized plans to support visually impaired students
  • Adapt general education materials and curricula for accessibility
  • Teach Braille and the use of assistive technology as needed
  • Work collaboratively with classroom staff, related service providers, and families
  • Evaluate student progress and participate in IEP meetings
  • Travel between schools within the district to provide direct and consultative services
