Job Description
Exciting opportunity for an experienced general education teacher to support middle school science students in a vibrant contract role near Upper Darby, PA. This full-time, onsite position spans the 2026-2027 academic year, from August 24, 2026, through June 10, 2027, with a 35-hour work week. You’ll engage with a caseload consisting exclusively of general education learners, with collaborative support for students who have special needs.
In this role, you’ll leverage your expertise in content and classroom management to make a meaningful impact within a diverse and dynamic urban school community.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated subject mastery in science and familiarity with current state and district standards
- Active teaching certification or licensure relevant to this position
- Bachelor’s degree required (qualification for an emergency teaching permit)
- Prior experience in a school environment, especially urban settings
- Proven strength in classroom management and behavioral strategies
- Ability to create engaging, differentiated lesson plans based on formative assessment
- Proficiency with educational resource materials and instructional best practices
- Reliable transportation for punctual attendance between 8:30AM and 4:00PM; no schedule accommodations available
- Must complete full Pennsylvania clearances prior to start
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver science instruction aligned with curriculum and standards
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs within the general education setting
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching based on formative data
- Collaborate with special education staff when assigned SPED students
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active, respectful participation
