Step into a dynamic professional opportunity for the 2026–2027 school year, supporting students across Lehigh and Carbon County through specialized programs as an Itinerant Special Education Teacher. This contract role provides a meaningful way to impact diverse learners—whether covering long-term assignments, vacancies, or leaves of absence—while collaborating with dedicated teams at innovative education centers.

Your adaptability will be essential, as assignments may range from enhanced autism programs and emotional support classrooms to functional life skills and multiple disabilities settings. Candidates must reside within roughly 35 minutes of assigned locations to ensure prompt, reliable support where needed most.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Pennsylvania Special Education teaching certification (required/preferred based on assignment)
  • Experience in special education classroom environments
  • Familiarity with IEP implementation and adapting instruction to individual student needs
  • Solid behavioral support and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with support staff, service providers, and families
  • Willingness and flexibility to serve at multiple sites and adapt to varying student profiles
  • Background in Autism Support, Emotional Support, Multiple Disabilities Support, or behavioral health is desirable
  • Prior experience in Intermediate Unit or other specialized school settings is an advantage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, specialized instruction to students with diverse needs
  • Support academic, behavioral, communication, and social development across different classrooms
  • Implement IEPs, behavior intervention plans, and sensory/communication supports
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed learning environment
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality programming
  • Cover various assignments as needed, demonstrating initiative and flexibility

This is a school-day, 35-hour-per-week schedule that follows the specific district or building calendar, offering consistent hours for the academic year.
