Job Description
We are excited to announce a staff position for a Hematology/Oncology Physician within our organization. This role is located in Albany, NY, at our facility on 315 South Manning Blvd. Our operational hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with weekends off.
About the PositionThis position is affiliated with a leading cancer center and will involve working closely with a dedicated team. Physicians typically manage a patient load of 15-18 individuals per day, with the option to see more if desired. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) generally see around 10-12 patients daily. During hospital rounds, physicians will not have any patient responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage an average daily hospital census of 20-30 patients.
- Participate in a collaborative oncology service line, which consists of approximately 80% oncology and 20% benign hematology.
- Administer various treatments, including intrathecal, intralesion, and intracavity therapies.
- Work alongside nurses and APPs who are involved in administering antineoplastic agents.
- Engage in clinical trials in partnership with a renowned cancer center.
- Participate in tumor boards focused on GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, and General oncology.
- Board Certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology and Hematology, or in the process of obtaining it.
- A commitment to patient-centered care and a desire to work collaboratively within a team.
- Enthusiasm and motivation to deliver optimal patient care and outcomes.
Our oncology service line is transitioning to a 1:1 MD to APP model, ensuring a balanced workload. The patient demographic ranges from geriatric to young adult, with a focus on high volumes of pancreatic, breast, colon, and urology cases. The organization does not manage acute leukemias or have a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) program at this time.
