Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in elementary education by supporting K-4 students’ academic and social-emotional growth in a dynamic resource setting. This full-time contract position spans the 2026-2027 school year, offering the chance to work closely with a small caseload (8-12 students) utilizing both pull-out and push-in models. Your expertise in Special Education will ensure each student receives individualized instruction and support within both special education and general education classrooms.
What You’ll Bring:
- Current Professional Educator License (PEL) in Special Education, or eligibility for Illinois licensure via the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS)
- Experience providing academic and social/emotional support to elementary students, particularly in resource or inclusion models
- Preferred: Orton Gillingham training/certification, or experience with multisensory structured literacy approaches (e.g., SLANT, Wilson, Sonday)
- Strong skills in differentiating lessons, collaborating with general education teachers, and supporting IEP implementation
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for diverse student needs
Your Role Includes:
- Delivering individualized instruction and interventions through pull-out and push-in services
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to support inclusion and implement accommodations
- Developing, monitoring, and updating IEP goals in coordination with families and specialists
- Providing academic and social/emotional assistance tailored to each student’s needs
- Engaging in regular communication with parents, educators, and support staff
- Maintaining accurate records, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation
This on-site role runs Monday through Friday, 35 hours weekly, and includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute unpaid breaks each day.
