Travel Hospital Pharmacist - Los Lunas, NM
Job Description
A well-established retail pharmacy located within a busy grocery store in Alamogordo, NM, is seeking a skilled pharmacist to join their team on a travel contract. This role offers an opportunity to provide patient-centered care in a dynamic community setting. The assignment length is 13 weeks or longer, with the possibility of shorter engagements. Candidates will work primarily at the main location but should also be prepared to cover shifts at a secondary retail site as needed.
Location:
- Alamogordo, New Mexico
Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Closed weekends at the primary location; occasional weekend shifts possible at the secondary location
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders following all protocols
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date patient medication profiles
- Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, verifying daily tasks
- Participate in medical emergency response alongside the pharmacy team
- Conduct medication storage inspections, ensuring removal of outdated stock
- Orient and train new pharmacy staff members
- Follow strict infection control procedures during all pharmacy operations
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active New Mexico Pharmacist License (or willing to obtain before starting)
- Disclosure and verification of all active and inactive pharmacy licenses
- Minimum one year of pharmacist experience preferred
- APhA Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery Certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to work at both primary and secondary retail sites, including occasional weekends
- Strong patient counseling, medication dispensing, and supervisory skills
- Comfortable adapting to a community grocery store pharmacy environment
