Position PurposeAs a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, you play an essential part in the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products are delivered on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and building lasting relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, intrastate, and interstate routes, ensuring timely delivery and unloading of food products in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, addressing inquiries accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to support the company’s objectives.
- Conduct all necessary safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of the vehicle and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies, reporting any safety hazards immediately.
- Verify that the trailer is loaded and secured properly, performing item counts and checking customer invoices for accuracy.
- Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as required.
- Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times.
- Handle damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
- Unload all equipment and materials, and dispose of trash from trailers as needed.
- Maintain daily records and comply with hours of service requirements, following DOT, state, and company policies.
- Uphold safety standards and guidelines for freight handling throughout the delivery process.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
- 6 months to 1 year of commercial driving experience.
- Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
- Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
- Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
- Background in customer service-related roles.
