This opportunity is for a travel retail pharmacist to deliver pharmacy services in a busy community grocery store pharmacy setting in Alamogordo, New Mexico. You will provide expert medication dispensing and counseling while supporting pharmacy technicians and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This assignment offers the chance to work in two retail pharmacy locations within a respected health system, with a flexible schedule and travel support.

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Job Type: Travel Contract (13 weeks or longer; shorter contracts may be considered)
Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Closed weekends and six major holidays at primary site
  • Occasional weekend shifts at secondary location

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders in line with protocols
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient medication profiles
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, verifying their daily tasks
  • Participate in emergency medical response as part of the pharmacy team
  • Inspect medication storage areas and remove outdated stock
  • Provide orientation and training for new pharmacy staff
  • Follow infection control procedures throughout pharmacy operations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active New Mexico pharmacist license or willingness to obtain prior to start
  • Disclosure and verification of all active and inactive licenses
  • Minimum one year experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Ability and willingness to cover shifts at secondary retail location, including occasional weekends
  • Strong skills in patient counseling and medication dispensing
  • Comfortable supervising pharmacy technicians
