Job Description
Step into an exciting opportunity as a 5th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in a supportive, dynamic intermediate school setting. This full-time contract role is perfectly suited for passionate educators ready to make a meaningful impact in the classroom, working exclusively onsite and engaging directly with students every day. You'll work closely with two classes, focusing on both English Language Arts and Social Studies, leveraging your knowledge and creativity to design engaging lessons tailored to the academic and developmental needs of 5th grade learners.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field required.
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements.
- Demonstrated understanding and hands-on experience with curriculum development and instructional planning.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Prior classroom experience preferred, especially with upper elementary or dual Social Studies/ELA content.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in both ELA and Social Studies to 5th grade students.
- Design, implement, and refine curriculum aligned with state standards and school expectations.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogue, inquiry, and collaboration.
- Use formative and summative assessment to guide instruction and support student growth.
- Maintain open, effective communication with colleagues, administrators, and families.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback and interventions as needed.
You’ll have the chance to shape student achievement, nurture curiosity, and build lasting connections within a collaborative school community. The contract runs from August 17th through May 27th, 2027, and the position requires being present onsite throughout the assignment.
