What We’re Looking For:
- Proven fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in educational or school environments preferred
- Ability to effectively facilitate communication for students, staff, and families
- Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural and linguistic differences
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
- Valid national or state certification (such as EIPA, RID, NIC, or equivalent) is highly desirable
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional codes of conduct
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, activities, group discussions, and assemblies
- Support students in understanding and participating fully in school life
- Translate spoken English into ASL and vice versa in real time
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to address individual student needs
- Support communication during meetings with parents or guardians when needed
