Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by supporting their learning as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in a full-time, onsite contract role. This rewarding itinerant position offers the opportunity to work across a middle school and two elementary schools, fostering inclusion and access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement is required
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of educational modifications and assistive technologies relevant to DHH students
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites as part of an itinerant service model
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills with students, families, and colleagues
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students, tailoring strategies to individual needs and IEP goals
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to facilitate accommodations and promote accessible learning environments
- Integrate technology, interpreters, and assistive devices where necessary
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and special education staff
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Serve as a resource for DHH awareness and inclusion practices within the school communities
