Director of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This direct hire opportunity is for a Director of Pharmacy role based in Pittsburgh, PA, offering a dynamic blend of administrative leadership and hands-on pharmacy practice in an acute care hospital setting. This working director position requires an individual who thrives in a collaborative environment, actively leading a small, dedicated team while managing daily operations and strategic initiatives.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Weekend coverage on a rotating basis with about 4 hours of flex time depending on patient needs
• Compensating weekday off provided when working a weekend shift

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), overseeing all pharmacy operations
• Lead, mentor, and manage a close-knit team consisting of 1 full-time pharmacist, 1 full-time pharmacy technician, and 2 per diem pharmacists
• Ensure smooth daily operations within a hybrid system environment utilizing Med Host and paper systems, with plans to implement EPIC
• Balance clinical duties with administrative tasks, actively participating in patient care and pharmacy workflow
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and drive continuous quality improvement

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Acute care hospital pharmacy experience is mandatory
• Pharmacy management or director-level experience strongly preferred
• Proven ability to manage pharmacy staff and lead from the front in a working director capacity
• Strong clinical, operational, and administrative skills
• Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or eligibility to obtain one
• Retail pharmacy background is not suitable for this role; candidates should have hospital-focused experience
