Teacher of Visually Impaired in Arlington Heights, IL

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This full-time contract opportunity (potential part-time flexibility) will have you working across multiple school sites in an itinerant role, advancing vision-related services for students from Pre-K through the transition years. Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding a dedicated department, supporting instructional excellence, and advocating for innovation in visually impaired education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized vision instruction tailored to individual student needs across various age groups
• Mentor, coach, and train new and returning staff on best practices and effective strategies
• Act as a problem-solver and resource advocate, collaborating with colleagues and school teams
• Support families and students by delivering resources, guidance, and ongoing consultation
• Ensure compliance with IEP goals, district policies, and relevant legal requirements
• Contribute to department planning, continuous improvement, and professional development initiatives
• Travel between multiple school sites within the district to deliver direct and consultative services

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) in Illinois with the appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
• Master’s Degree in a related field
• At least five years of school-based experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Expertise in vision services delivery, mentoring, and training within school environments
• Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills
• Completion of fingerprint-based background check prior to start
