Overview Following ALARA protocols, the radiological technician, performs routine and emergent radiographic imaging using ionizing radiation to produce quality x-ray and/or CT exams. (ALARA – The radiation dose should be As Low As Reasonably Achievable.)\n

Role Overview

\n

Perform radiographic procedures at a technical level without constant supervision. Assume responsibility for procedures performed and related duties as assigned.

\n

Qualifications

\n

Required:

\n

\n
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
\n
• ARRT registry or registry eligible (must achieve within 6 months of hire)
\n
• Understanding of basic anatomy
\n
• Ability to lift, move, and transport patients
\n

\n

Preferred:

\n

\n
• State licensure (required in Arkansas)
\n
• Proficiency in radiographic equipment & processors
\n

\n

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

\n

\n
• Technical skill in radiologic procedures
\n
• Understanding of basic anatomy
\n
• Ability to:\n

  • Manipulate x-ray equipment (including mobile units)

  • Carry cassettes & select exposure factors
  \n
  • Evaluate radiographs
  \n
  • Lift, move & transport patients
  \n
  • Stand & walk for extended periods
  \n
  • Recognize emergencies & adapt to stress
  \n
  • Communicate effectively
