Inpatient Pharmacist | Chesapeake, Virginia

An immediate need exists for an experienced inpatient pharmacist to support a busy hospital setting currently navigating a management transition. This dynamic role requires a highly skilled professional comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and delivering exceptional pharmacy services within inpatient units.

Contract Details:

• Start Date: Monday, August 24
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Contract position

Schedule:

• Day shifts: 0630–1500, 0730–1600, 0900–1730, 1000–1830
• Evening shifts: 1300–2130, 1430–2300
• Overnight shifts: 1930–0730, 2030–0730

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately verify and process medication orders using the hospital’s electronic medical record system
• Manage and monitor drug interactions, pain control analgesia, antibiotic administration, and order entry
• Provide expertise in intravenous (IV) medication preparation and dosing
• Support specialized medication needs, including chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing (preferred)
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication therapy and safety

Required Qualifications:

• Current Virginia pharmacist license in hand at time of submission (mandatory)
• Minimum one year of inpatient pharmacy experience
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record system (mandatory)
• Experience with IV medications, pain management, antibiotics, and order verification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous travel pharmacy experience
• Knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, anticoagulation therapy, pharmacokinetic and renal dosing
